Holy Week and Easter were a special moment in the life of our parish and I would like to say thank you to those who enabled it so to be.
There are not enough words to adequately thank Marlon Hosang who coordinates and trains our altar servers. Marlon spent hours researching the ceremonies. He carefully trained our servers who so enriched our prayer. To Marlon and all our altar servers, thank you so much, you helped create a wonderful atmosphere for prayer.
The Word of God was truly proclaimed throughout the Triduum and Easter, as it is at every Sunday liturgy. Thanks to our lectors and a special thank you to Kimberley LaMarque Orman who heads the lector program.
Our Eucharistic Ministers so enhance our prayer as they offer us the Body and Blood of the Lord at every Eucharist and they did so especially during this Holy Week and Easter, thank you. And thank you to all the Ministers of the Eucharist who with prayerful dignity offer us the Eucharist not just throughout Holy Week, but every day of the year. Thomas Davis co-ordinates the Eucharistic Ministers— but he also, assisted by Cynthia Varay and Lucia Martinez, co-ordinated the decoration of the sanctuary for Holy Thursday and Easter.... so many people commented on the beauty of the Church, thank you, your creativity so enhanced our Easter prayer.
Speaking of Cynthia, all of our beautiful pulpit hangings, all of our altar cloths and so much that decorates our sanctuary are the work and the gift of Cynthia.....thank you so much!
There were many programs to be prepared and printed, many details to be attended to behind the scenes: to William Moran, our office manager, and all the office staff: Meg de Mercado, Martha Montalvo, Michael Murphy, Jose Bobadilla, a very strong word of thanks. Because of the budget cuts, we presently have no director of music....without the efforts of our business manager, Daniel Champoli who co-ordinated all that happened during the week....things might never have gone as well; in many ways, Daniel, you made it all possible. Barney Myles was at the organ on both Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday, Jim Trainor was at the piano on Good Friday. And the choir for those days,....Chris Williams, Elena Mayville, Jeewon So, Christian Garcia, Hayden DeWitt, Ricci Poormon, Christina Russo, Brian James, Michelle Trovato, Rob McClimans.... you all so enriched our prayer with your beautiful voices! Thank you!! (Rob McClimans also played the 8:30 am Mass on Easter, as he does every Sunday)....Thank you too to Julian Chang and Kati Trevison who enhance our 11:15 am Mass every Sunday and made our Good Friday 3 pm celebration and our Easter Mass at 11:15am, so prayerful.
At the Easter Vigil, our catechumens Tristan Dasig, Michaela Mistrikova and Katelan Terrell were baptized. Eugene Meshechek was received into full communion in the Catholic community and together with Lavish Deatley, Victoria La Villa, Daniel Macias, Jeewon So and Britton Williams were confirmed and thus completed all of the sacraments of Initiation, Baptism, Confirmation and Communion. This comes after a time of intense preparation in the RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). To our RCIA team, my thanks, and that of all of the parish, for your dedication and your willingness to share so freely your time and talent, and to Tina Silvestro, coordinator of the RCIA program, thank you.
And thank you, the people of the Blessed Sacrament for your presence, your prayer and your support. $64,885.71 has been received in the Easter collection; $1,461 was offered for Holy Thursday; $2,439. was contributed to support the shrines of the Holy Land in the collection on Good Friday; $2971. was offered as and the memorial donations toward the cost of the flowers that decorate the sanctuary for Easter.
It is a gift to be the pastor here at Blessed Sacrament because of you, the people of God....I thank God daily for the gift that is mine to serve you.....and I thank you for your generosity, your patience and your understanding. May the Risen Lord bless us all and enable us to pray together for peace.
